Our story is Oklahoma’s story.
Named for the Georgia town, Koweta, which was once in the old Creek Nation, this small, quiet town sits in the Arkansas River valley in northwestern Wagoner County. Several of Coweta’s buildings date back to statehood and are on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Coweta’s economy is driven primarily by agriculture, and Coweta serves as a bedroom community for larger nearby cities like Tulsa, Broken Arrow, and Muskogee.
