Coweta

An agricultural bedroom community.

Our story is Oklahoma’s story.

Named for the Georgia town, Koweta, which was once in the old Creek Nation, this small, quiet town sits in the Arkansas River valley in northwestern Wagoner County. Several of Coweta’s buildings date back to statehood and are on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Coweta’s economy is driven primarily by agriculture, and Coweta serves as a bedroom community for larger nearby cities like Tulsa, Broken Arrow, and Muskogee.

FEATURED EPISODE

The Mission Bell Museum began its history as a frontier chapel in 1907 just a block away from the future site of downtown Coweta.
