Seminole

One of the world’s largest historic oil sources.

Our story is Oklahoma’s story.

Named for the Native American tribe, the town of Seminole grew on a massive scale when oil sprang from the discovery well Fixico Number One, producing over six-thousand barrels of oil after it blew. This small Oklahoma town became one of the biggest sources of oil in the world – almost overnight. Through busts and the Great Depression, Seminole persevered, and its steady growth has continued with manufacturing, Seminole State College and the cherished Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum.
