Duncan

The former “buckle of the oil belt” preserves its local history.

Our story is Oklahoma’s story.

The City of Duncan, named after William and Sally Duncan, was a thriving agricultural community in the early twentieth century. What transitioned a small, yet vibrant, farming community into a bustling boomtown was the creation of several oil wells in Stephens County. Such intense oil field activity caused Erle P. Halliburton to establish what is now known as Halliburton Energy in the 1920s. The oil industry may have helped energize Duncan, but its citizens commitment to civic spirit has made Duncan what the town is today.
