Tishomingo

Where good things spring forth.

Our story is Oklahoma’s story.

Before it was named in honor of the Chickasaw Indian chief, Tishomingo area was known as “Good Springs.” It was the first capital of the Chickasaw Nation, and remains the county seat of Johnston County. In 1908, the Oklahoma Legislature located the Murray State School of Agriculture (now Murray State College) in Tishomingo. Country music star Blake Shelton and Chickasaw Governor Bill Anoatubby maintain homes near Tishomingo.
