Our story is Oklahoma’s story.
McLoud residents have always been resolute. When flooding destroyed the original town, they picked up and moved the town a mile south to higher ground. In its earliest days, McLoud became an agricultural hub, home to five cotton gins as well as two brick factories. President Harry S. Truman in 1949 declared McLoud "the Blackberry Capital of the World" after the Chamber of Commerce sent him a crate of blackberries. Since that time, McLoud hosts a Blackberry Festival each July.
